About uS

Why?

I founded Yearning to Breathe Free in order to make life easier for vulnerable immigrant communities. As a first-generation immigrant myself, I know how hard it is to adapt to a new life in America, a country with a different culture, different people, and a different language.

Before YTBF, I volunteered with the IRC and the Chinese Information and Service Center in Seattle, seeing first-hand the degree to which those they aided depended on them. When these organizations and thousands of other organizations providing critical support to immigrants across the nation were forced to shut down during the pandemic, I sought to fill the gap by creating a place where immigrants could access the same resources online – the website you are visiting now.

Even as the pandemic finally recedes, I will continue to work to expand and improve YTBF in order to serve as many communities as comprehensively as possible.
